Budget Before Keeping a Dog
2008-08-27

Budget before Keeping a Dog   When that sweet little puppy face is staring at you, begging you to take it home, it's easy for rational thought to go out the window. The moment you're being bombarded with wet kisses, you're probably not thinking about all the time and energy, not to mention the cost of owning a dog. Owning a dog involves expenses that cannot be ignored: purchase or adoption expenses, equipment and grooming, and veterinary fees.

Let us take a look: 1) Cost on dog food The most obvious and ongoing expense for your dog is food. While the pet aisle in the grocery store offers many low-cost options, these choices are not always best for your dog. Like people, dogs need a balanced diet and one that is full of nutrients and proteins. Since the dog is not getting what it needs from the food, it will likely eat more of it. This can end up costing the dog owner more in the long run. Maybe in your mind, a quality food should be selected. While it may cost more, your pet,s health is worth it. 2)

Cost on vet bills All dogs will need to visit the vet at least once a year to receive vaccinations. Although the cost of vaccines will vary, one fact being all the same is that you must spend money for it. Also, heartworm prevention medication and flea prevention must be given monthly is a good idea and costs approximately. If your dog is unlucky to get ill, you shouldn't be ungenerous to fish out your money.

3) Cost on dog’s daily supplies Dogs need stuff! They need crates, collars, leashes, bedding and toys. If you plan to leave your pet outside all of the time (not recommended), then additional items such as shelter and hay for warmth must also be provided. If you plan to crate train your dog you will also need to purchase a quality crate. 4) Cost on grooming It's important that dogs are bathed and brushed regularly. This helps keep their skin healthy and their coat shiny. As some dogs are prone to skin disorders, it's always a good idea to maintain good habits in this regard. Some dogs shed more than others 5) Cost on tendance when you are away If you travel, dogs are an extra expense whether you bring them along or not. If traveling without your furry friend, you will spend money to board your pet. If your bring him along, you'll have to consider the cost of shipping your pet on the airplane and/or paying a non-refundable pet deposit at the hotel. Be sure to call ahead for airline requirements and hotel policies before planning your trip. Do you really deed a dog? Dogs' loyalty is well-known and many dogs will protect their homes with the heart and passion of a true champion. In addition, nothing beats being greeted by a happy and loving friend every time you return home from work. Still, just because there are many perks to owning a dog, it doesn't mean you are truly prepared to bring one home. By asking yourself a few simple questions and by answering them honestly, you will be better able to determine if you are truly ready to own a dog.

•Do you truly like dogs? This may seem like a silly question, but many people that want a pet dog do not really have any experience with caring for one. While they certainly look cute on television and are fun to hang around with when you visit a friend's house, this doesn't mean you truly like everything about dogs. Consider the cost and other stress dogs will take to you first and then answer this question.

•Is anyone in the house like dogs? Practically, not everyone likes dogs. Some people will be allergic to dogs. The high invest, the stress and other problem which your dog takes to your family may cause your family member feel sick.

•Does your financial condition allow you to keep a dog? Maybe you will think this is not a question, for the money your dog will cost is unbetraechtlich. We have just talked about the high cost already; it can't be a small number. You should be confidence to your generosity.
